Alpha is the first letter in the Greek alphabet, symbolizing the beginning or start of something new. For many of us, starting is the most challenging part of any journey—whether it’s beginning a new relationship with Christ, embracing a fresh season of life, or stepping into a new vision for the future. As Paul writes in Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” The key to success is not just in finishing well, but in beginning well—laying a strong foundation in faith and trust, knowing that God will sustain us through the journey to completion.
That’s the heart of the Alpha Project—to begin well. This summer, Campus Outreach San Diego is launching a short leader development intensive designed to help you lay a strong foundation in your relationship with God for the rest of your life. The Alpha Project will equip you with the tools to start strong, trust in God’s work, fight the good fight, and ultimately finish the race.

As a staff team, we desire to join you in your parental desire to see your student become the best version of his or herself. We recognize and reinforce the desires to see students grow academically, socially, and vocationally; yet, we also believe that spiritual growth undergirds and enhances the others. Spiritual development happens through a vibrant, growing relationship with God through His Son Jesus. We have built such an environment to encourage spiritual development called the Alpha Project.
The Alpha Project is a 2 week summer experience where college students (and our ministry staff) live, play, grow, and learn together with other college students in a beautiful home at the beginning (Alpha) of the summer. The days include teaching, training, and teaming together to grow as a community. Spiritual and relational mentoring are also imbedded into the experience, allowing for individual growth.
